Bridges to Excellence and NextGen Healthcare: 5 Years and Counting

We are seeing a shift towards the understanding and overall acceptance of “quality over quantity” when it comes to providing care to patients. It’s a shift HCI3 celebrates, but to some, like clinicians, these changes can come with many questions and also mean uncertainties. As the system evolves, it is important to rely on organizations that have proven they can work together to help providers move forward and improve care and 2014 marks the 5-year anniversary of a solid partnership between HCI3 and EHR vendor, NextGen Healthcare.

NextGen Healthcare has played an integral part in assisting clinicians to become recognized in Diabetes, Cardiac Care and Hypertension Bridges to Excellence Recognition programs since 2009. Through the NextGen Health Quality Measures (HQM) Reporting Module, which allows providers to easily report “by automating the registry process to meet both regulatory requirements and commercial quality initiatives," over 600 clinicians have been awarded BTE recognition for their delivery of superior patient care.

“The NextGen and Bridges to Excellence partnership has been a beneficial one for all involved, especially clinicians and their patients,” said Sharon Tompkins, NextGen Manager, HQM Implementation, Development & Support. “Clinicians who meet quality measures and achieve Bridges to Excellence recognition have demonstrated better patient outcomes, and over time, do significantly better in improving patient health, decreasing the cost of care and reducing the risk of avoidable complications and hospitalizations.”

The Bridges to Excellence Clinician Recognition programs identify clinicians who deliver high-value care to patients with specific chronic conditions. The programs each comprise a set of clinical measures representing standards of care for patients with these conditions. Programs include:

  • Asthma Care
  • Cardiac Care in collaboration with the ACC
  • Congestive Heart Failure Care
  • COPD Care
  • Coronary Artery Disease Care
  • Depression Care
  • Diabetes Care
  • Hypertension Care
  • IBD Care in collaboration with the AGA
  • Physician Office System
  • BTE Medical Home

“By combining the Bridges to Excellence program with a proven EHR solutions vendor, together we have ensured that clinicians who are working hard to provide high-value care are given the tools they need to continue to do so and be recognized for that achievement in the process,” said Jessica DiLorenzo, HCI3 Bridges to Excellence Program Implementation Leader. “We look forward to a valuable, long-standing partnership with NextGen Healthcare.”

Happy 5-year anniversary to our friends at NextGen Healthcare! We look forward to many more!
