Forum FAQs

What are Forums?

Forums are a place where conversations can take place between members of the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute (HCI3) audience, participants, and staff. This is your chance to ask questions of, and provide answers to, professionals working in health care improvement on topics such as Episode of Care Analysis, Episode of Care Implementation, Operations and Contracting, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Based Quality Measurement and Incentive Design.

How do I post to the forum?

The first time you want to write a topic or a reply, you will need to complete a quick registration process by clicking "Login" or "Register". It should not take more than a minute. More information on registration is below.

There are two different ways of participating in a forum: creating a New Topic or a Reply to an existing conversation. When you wish to start a new conversation, unrelated to any existing in the relevant forum, you’ll want to use the "New Topic" button on the forum topics page. When you wish to reply to a particular topic or individual post within that topic, use the "Reply" button at the bottom of the post in question. In both cases, you will be presented with an editor where you can write your post and then "Preview" and "Save" when you are complete (replies require you to preview before you can save). These forums are moderated, so your post will not immediately appear on the site.

Note: Your posts will become public when approved by a moderator, and will then be available to anyone with an Internet connection who visits the HCI3 site.

How do I register to create a new topic or reply?

On the page in which you would post a new comment or reply to an existing one, there’s a "Login" and "Register" link. Click on either. On the next page, make sure you click on the "Create new account" tab if it is not already highlighted. After registering, you will receive an email with a link and a password. Once you login again (http://www.hci3.org/user/) you can update your password at the "My account" link on the right. With your registration complete and having logged in, you may write a new topic or reply to a post using the buttons that should now appear on the corresponding forum pages.

Why do I have to register?

The most important reason is that we want you to enjoy and benefit from relevant, actionable information on these topics. The registration process ensures you are a "real" person and that you acknowledge our forum rules and guidelines. This process helps to develop a strong and reliable online community and ensures that members take responsibility for what they author.

Why didn't I receive an email confirming my registration?

The confirmation email is sent automatically to the email address you entered when you registered. It is possible the email address was not entered correctly, or that you have a spam filter, which might have blocked your receipt of the email. Check your spam folder in case it was put there. If you have not received the email within 24 hours, please contact us at info@hci3.org stating you attempted to register for the forums, what username you used, and the correct email address, and we'll attempt to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

What are the forum guidelines?

This is a short overview of forum guidelines. A complete list of guidelines and rules are here.

We expect people who post in the forums to adhere to high standards of professionalism at all times. Users may be blocked and posts deleted if these standards and our interpretation of these standards are not adhered to.

The following are some guidelines for things NOT to include in your posts:

  • Profanity, obscenities or hateful speech of any kind
  • Short posts that do not further the conversation
  • Posts meant to offend or hurt anyone in a manner that is offensive or inflammatory
  • Spam: posts that serve no other purpose than to sell a product or service

Where is my post? I submitted it, but it didn't show up.

Posts are moderated and are generally approved or denied in one business day.

Why do you moderate posts?

We want to develop a community that fosters the free exchange of information that will benefit everyone working in health care incentives improvement. By screening submissions, we ensure a space where participants can engage in intelligent and informed discourse that enhances everyone's understanding.

While most posts will be approved if they are on-topic and follow our guidelines, moderating discussions is subjective. We will attempt to make decisions as carefully and consistently as we can. Moderators’ decisions are final however.

Do you edit posts?

No. They are either approved or rejected.
