Bundled payment programs are being tested and implemented around the country. And while current programs have been considered to be on a relatively small scale, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation’s (CMMI) Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) and other state-based initiatives, such as in Arkansas, signal a movement towards more widespread, large-scale implementations in the future. In the midst of these initiatives, many questions are coming to the surface in an attempt to understand how these models work and the benefits of implementing such programs.
Our Executive Director, Francois de Brantes, sat down for a with McKesson’s MHSdialogue team to answer pressing questions regarding bundled payments. In this podcast, Francois speaks to how bundled payments work, various models and what to consider when starting a bundled payment program. He also addresses the recently publicly released HCI3 episode of care definitions, or Evidence-informed Case Rates (ECRs) and how they compare to other definitions.
