Single-plan Implementations
In states like Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana and Washington, a health plan is actively rewarding Recognized physicians
Within Texas, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS TX) and Aetna are both participating in BTE Care Recognition programs.
BCBS TX started with the Diabetes Care Recognition program, and as of May 2010 has paid an estimated $118,600 in physician rewards. After successfully increasing the number of Recognized physicians that provide quality care to patients with diabetes, in June 2010 BCBS TX expanded its sponsorship to include implementing the Cardiac Care Recognition program. The goal of both statewide programs is to improve the care provided to patients diagnosed with diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and to financially reward BCBS TX network physicians for providing exceptional care. BCBS TX is the only health insurer to implement both programs statewide in Texas.
Aetna is committed to ensuring the delivery of quality services to members and is the first health plan in Austin to introduce BTE Recognition programs. Aetna is currently engaged in implementing the Cardiac Care Recognition program. Participating physicians earning BTE Recognition will automatically earn BTE financial rewards. These physicians will also be recognized in the Aetna provider online directory DocFind®.
